Not a love letter

I’ve been dealing with some excess anger lately. It does like to stick to you. I thought I might vent some of it through an exercise in writing, but it came out rather differently than I’d expected. If anything, I think it’s a bit amusing. So if, by some chance, you are in need of a form letter to send someone you hate, I humbly offer this piece as an option.

And before anyone asks, no, this was not written with anyone particular in mind, but rather as an exercise both in expressing vexation and in sounding very specific while in fact being as vague as possible. Hope you enjoy!

Prepare to variate

I’m working on coming up with an application in full for the position of variant writer. The plan is to ask applicants to prove their skills by doing, so I need to present the basics of what a variant writer would need to know to work within MVOL. Here’s my explanation so far– not for the application process, but for what would be involved in the work of variant writing.

Feedback is welcome, of course. This is something of a rough draft, and some of the data is actually outdated, since I’m not on my main computer right now, but the goal is to drive home the fundaments of the job as quickly as possible in an easy-to-understand way, while also serving as a quick reference for when actually doing the job, whether in the application process or after. It may be a little more readable after I apply some formatting with headers and bold and the like, of course.

Preview: Just a touch

Been in a bit of a slump the last few weeks, but with a firm reminder that it’s better to write where I’ll enjoy it than to try and force myself to write what just doesn’t feel right right now, I’m crawling out of it again. Today, I got a decent chunk put in on that new eBook I mentioned and previewed before, and I’m feeling fairly proud of that, so I thought I’d give another preview. Still feels strange writing a story knowing it won’t be “free” from the start xP But I suppose that’s something I should get used to sooner or later, haha.

If you didn’t notice the tag, the following is very much NSFW! Do not read if you are under 18, uninterested in graphic descriptions of adult content involving anthropomorphic animals, or in a place where people are liable to peek over your shoulder and judge you for your questionable taste in blogs! All that said, I hope you enjoy!

We’ve still got to play a bit of catch-up and finish the second chapter behind the stone door for every possible outcome, but I’m pushing on to the third and final chapter as well. Today, though, I thought you all might like a peek at the other black collar. One of your choices turned things a little less grim, so this is a pretty dramatic contrast from how the other black collar is looking at this point. I hope it looks like an interesting opening to you all :3

Preview: Hungry in December

Sometimes I forget just how many stories I’ve got “waiting.” I’ll get an idea, and I’ll develop it until I feel like I’ve got enough to go on, and I’ll start writing… but something will happen, and I’ll stop. Maybe I’ll hit a point in the story where I just don’t know how to continue, or some other, much more interesting idea will steal my attention, or maybe I’ll just fall into one of my phases where I don’t write. Well, hopefully that last is mostly behind me, at least.

But every once in a while I suddenly realize I’ve got an old story waiting for me. I hope to come back to them sooner or later, but for now, it doesn’t hurt to share what I’ve got. Today, I’m going to share the opening to a chapter of my Amante Senz’anima story series, which you can find on SoFurry easily and on FurAffinity with a bit of following links in the descriptions. Preview: Through the hole

I’ve got a lot of projects on tap these days, keep some variety going for when I get tired of writing on one subject or another. Further, I’ve published a few stories on Kindle, but so far all I’ve got is stuff that I had published publicly before, then withdrew, edited and polished, and offered up for sale. It’s turned out fairly well, but it’s certainly true that I’d like to offer up a “proper” story for sale. To that end, I’ve been working on something a little different.

I always find my idea of “vanilla” kind of amusing. Whenever I try to make a concept “normal” in one way, it tends to get a little strange in another. I’m pretty interested to see how this story turns out, both in my writing it and in how it’ll be received. My only regret is that this means it’ll be one of my least-read stories, theoretically, and perhaps one I get the least feedback on. But we’ll just have to see how it goes, I suppose!

For now, I’d like to offer up a snippet near the beginning for your consideration. Hope you all enjoy! And yes, it’s Not Safe For Work. 18+ Only! Continue reading

MVOL: Unused scenes 2

Here’s another peek into the v0.16 that could have been! I’ve noticed that the blue collar has actually been a deal lighter on content through the stone door, so I was trying to find ways to fix that a little. On the other hand, though, it’s great to have more solid “character development” scenes for the routes that are usually more focused on just sex, so I actually don’t feel too bad about it. I’m trying to give the blue collar route more of an “adventurer” feel to counterbalance the grim aspects we’re seeing with the pink and black content, but it’s hard to delve into what’s really going on emotionally in this kind of setting without getting dark, fast.

This “deleted scene” is a prime example of that. I tried to expand some on what’s going on and add some depth to the blue storyline, but it… well, it ended up going pretty dark xP Not as much as the others, maybe, but I went ahead and went back to find a different path to take. Hope you guys find it interesting :3

MVOL: Unused scenes

Trying to set the tone right for returning to the stone door was tricky. It’s been a while since I wrote the first trip through, and recapturing the feel of each character while advancing them in a meaningful way took a little extra work. Along the way I caught myself a few times writing stuff that I just didn’t want to use. If it wasn’t very much I might just delete it, but larger chunks that were suddenly useless would be pushed off to the side in case I changed my mind or wanted to salvage something from it. Objectionable

Judge: Mr. Wright, what is the meaning of this?! Please explain!

Phoenix Wright: The defendant couldn’t possibly have committed the murder, your honor! This evidence clearly proves it! As a matter of fact, I believe I can name the real murderer! You see, on the night of the murder, there was another…

Judge: *sighs* (Here we go again… another Wright turnabout. The bailiff is already getting up to make the arrest based on his little surprise. Can’t anyone give him a case in which they’ve accused the right person? Who’s he going to pin it on THIS time?…)

Phoenix Wright: …and that means there was only one person that could have committed this heinous crime!

Judge: …And who was that, Mr. Wright. Continue reading

Forging on

I’ve been pushing myself to get the next update ready for MVOL, and I think today I’ll give you all a sneak peek at my most recent work! It’s been odd coming back to some of these, with how terribly long it’s been, I’m worried the mood and feel of the work might shift overmuch simply for not having the same thoughts in mind as I push each route forward. The episodic nature of each trip through the door being a separate event might help a little, but it’s inevitable a lot of players will just play it straight through in one go, so it’s important that it flows fairly smoothly. I’ll be working more on refining that, and of course, this is all raw and unproofed, so it’s gonna look different from the final product, possibly in a few ways!

With all that in mind, I hope you all enjoy your first little sneak peek at finally returning to the stone door :3 Continue reading
